Is it annoying if I say, it depends?
Some babies really thrive off consistency and routine (as do some adults!) While some are less bothered...
Creating routines I.e. a sequence of activities/events in the same order (not necessarily the same time) can be a great way of helping baby know what to expect as they build up associations between the routine and going to bed, either for a nap or at night!
At nap time, this could be as simple as feeding baby, popping them in their sleep space and saying goodnight - I like to read a story too but that's just me!
At night, more steps might include: a bath, a massage, putting pj's on, reading a story, turning the lights out, having a cuddle and then saying goodnight...you choose!
Having these familiar steps in the lead up to the big transition and separation that sleep brings for your little one, might be really helpful for some babies and young children! For others, they may not need so much!
No harm in giving yourself some routine though!
