We all have a certain temperament and yours may differ from your partner or from your baby or from the neighbour down the road...It may help to identify what category your baby seems to fall into to more readily understand and be sensitive to what they need and expect from you.
Someone's temperament essentially refers to the physiological and measurable difference in how our nervous systems process information...i.e. how sensitive we are to the world around us.
'Orchids' - refer to those with a more sensitive nature, requiring more support when it comes to managing changes in their environment
'Dandelions' - refer to people who are more resilient, less sensitive to those same changes!
When it comes to routines, separation, introducing your baby to new people and spaces etc. your orchid baby just may need more reassurance and a a gentler pace than your dandelion toddler ever did as a baby!
Would you say you are more orchid or dandelion? How about your little one(s)? or your partner?
I offer a range of guidance for new parents, including tailored advice and hands on support.
