As a sleep coach, I do not suggest or use behavioural low- or non-responsive sleep training methods. Instead, I focus on identifying your family's sleep goals and expectations and what sleep currently looks like for you before exploring realistic steps forwards. Within my coaching, I always keep in mind, and make sure parents are aware, of the biologically and developmentally normal expectations for their little one's age and stage when it comes to sleep behaviours and needs.
My sleep coaching services include:
Antenatally:
What you can realistically expect of your family's sleep once baby arrives including information about biologically and developmentally normal infant sleep
What resources you may want or need (and what not to spend your money on)
Possible sleep struggles you may come across and how to minimise, resolve, or get through them (and where red flags may indicate more specialised help may be needed)
Postnatally:
Analysis of a detailed in-take form and 5-day (minimum) sleep diary
Discussing your current sleep situation and any concerns
Ensuring you understand normal sleep expectations for your baby's age
Guiding and advising on gentle, developmentally appropriate steps towards your family's sleep goals including changes to routine, environment and feeding as needed
Identifying other factors, including red flags, that may be influencing sleep and can be worked on - by me or by other signposted professionals
