It's a simple fact: The clothes your baby wears will be unlikely to survive without at least one incident of an explosive or leaked nappy, some milk up-chuck or a-another colourful addition to their previously sparkling white outfit....
This is why - along with the fact that babies grow extremely fast and therefore don't fit any one outfit for more than a couple of months - I always suggest to parents that they save the heartbreak and their bank balance by forgetting the expensive, fancy, frilly outfits and just get lots of onesies: short-sleeved vest variety, long-sleeved vest variety and sleep-suit variety (preferably zipped not poppered and certainly not buttoned!)
You want one or two pretty dresses or shirts for a photo or two? Ok, but perhaps consider seeking them out in a charity shop or as a hand-me-down....
But, the real question is: what can you do when that lovely outfit you just bought gets poo all down the back?
Rinse! Rinse! Rinse!
Get that item soaking asap before it gets buried at the bottom of the washing pile and the stain has time to settle itself in at home. In the event you do discover a stain at a later point, just get the area damp again!
This years discovery for me: Pears Soap (Which I've since discovered is an old classic!)... Fill a sink with warm water, soak the stain in the water and then use the soap and your knuckle to rub at that stain as hard as you can muster and watch it fade before your eyes! Then rinse, add to the remaining washing and, once complete, hang up a like-new item of clothing!
Other suggestions I've seen or heard about include:
Baking soda and sparkling water
Simply hanging stained clothes out in the sun
Stain remover powder you add to the wash such as Vanish Oxi Action...
What methods have you tried and tested or perhaps read about? Let me know!
Happy Soaking!
